The Origins of Revel: How a Dream Became a Community Staple

Back in 2015, we were completely hooked on Jun Kombucha. The crisp, effervescent flavor and the way it made us feel had us sold. At the time, there was nothing else quite like it—a fermented tea made with green tea and honey, offering probiotics and a subtle natural buzz without the alcohol.
We didn’t just want to drink Jun; we wanted to share it. But not in the typical health-food-shop kind of way. We dreamed of something different. Something fun. We imagined a brewery-style tasting room—minus the alcohol—where people of all ages could hang out, learn about Jun Kombucha, and fall in love with the experience like we had.

So, we got to work. We created a space that felt alive and welcoming. A giant chalkboard menu greeted guests, detailing each Jun flavor and a quick intro to what Jun Kombucha even is (it’s still a mystery to many!). We mounted a projector and streamed Red Bull TV 24/7—surfing, biking, snowboarding—content that matched the energy and spirit we hoped to cultivate.
Our furniture was colorful and comfy. Our team? Fun, vibrant, and genuinely excited to be there. We installed eight taps—seven for Jun, and one for cold brew coffee on nitro because, hey, sometimes you need a little extra fuel.
To make the tasting experience special, we served our Jun in colorful tasting flights on handmade wooden paddles. But we didn’t stop at kombucha. We crafted acai bowls that are now legendary in Ojai. Made with all-organic ingredients and toppings like sprouted granola from our local friends at Lark Ellen. Our sorbet-style bowls were intentionally blender-free to preserve the chill, relaxed vibe of the space.
Looking back, it might’ve been the first dedicated kombucha bar in the country—it’s hard to say for sure, but we’re proud of the role we played in blazing that trail. What we can say with certainty is that Revel quickly became more than we ever dreamed.
Our little Jun tasting room has grown into a core part of the Ojai community. We've gotten to know so many amazing people—locals and visitors alike—and we’ve had a blast adding new things to the menu along the way: healthy snacks, kombucha floats, slushies, adaptogenic matcha and hot chocolates, and more.
Revel isn’t just a place to grab a drink. It’s a vibe, a community, and a shared love for wellness, flavor, and connection. What started as a passion project fueled by Jun Kombucha has become something truly special—and we couldn’t be more grateful.
