In 2005, Adam, co-founder of Revel, embarked on a journey to Brazil that would forever change his palate and inspire a cornerstone of our offerings. While exploring the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro, he noticed locals flocking to street-side kiosks, eagerly awaiting their turn for a bowl of açaí na tigela. This traditional Brazilian treat, made from frozen and mashed açaí berries, was a revelation. Its deep purple hue, thick consistency, and earthy flavor, often enhanced with guaraná syrup, granola, and banana slices, offered a refreshing respite from the tropical heat.
Venturing further south to Florianópolis, Adam discovered that the açaí culture was not confined to the bustling metropolis. Even in smaller towns, açaí bowls were a staple, served in juice bars and beachside kiosks, reflecting the berry's widespread appeal across Brazil.

When developing the concept of Revel, Adam and Sonia envisioned bringing the authentic taste of
Brazilian açaí to Ojai. When they founded Revel, their mission was clear: to recreate the açaí bowls that had captivated Adam in Brazil, while infusing them with local flair. They introduced sprouted granola sourced from Ojai, a unique addition that added both texture and a nod to local ingredients. Innovative drizzles like peanut butter and turmeric were developed, offering a twist on the traditional toppings.
Today, Revel's açaí bowls remain true to their Brazilian roots—refreshing, nourishing, and perfect for warm days. Paired with our house-made sparkling probiotic beverages, they offer a taste of Brazil right here in Ojai.
